Sources and licences

For your wines' identity and the official facts of their appellation, Bouchons relies on a shared wine reference built from open data. Every fact from the reference shown on a wine's page says where it comes from.

This page names those sources, their licences and what we change in their data. None of them is affiliated with Bouchons or endorses the service.

What the AI suggests

The drinking window, how the wine ages and the pairings are suggested by an AI (Claude, by Anthropic) when you add a bottle: they are estimates, which you can change. The wine reference does not rewrite them; it shows the facts it holds from these sources beside them.

Estates' technical sheets

When an estate publishes a cuvée's technical sheet, we may note facts from it (grapes, élevage) and keep the link to its page. These sheets are only looked up when our team asks, never automatically. We never keep the text: it belongs to the estate.

What we don't use

  • Ratings, reviews and data from other wine apps or sites, such as Vivino.
  • Commercial databases of drinking windows or pairings.
  • Data obtained by scraping websites.

Your corrections

When you change the grapes or the appellation of a wine linked to the reference, the new value applies to your bottle right away. It only enters the wine reference, for everyone, after review: it is then marked “Verified correction”.
